MINISTERS BEGIN CONSIDERATION OF STATUS Allied Troops Reportedly Moving Towards City

Received Saturdav, 11 a.m. LONDON, June 21. The Foreign Ministers' conference to-day began to tackle the biggest immediate problem— -the future status of Trieste. The Yugoslav authorities in Belgrade issued an official statement declaring that Allied tanks and troops are moving towards the contested city, says the Associated Press of Great Britain's Paris correspondent. Belgrade newspapers featured a statement from the official news agency Tanjug that British and American forces are concentrating on the demarcation 1-ine in Venezia Giulia, ^ I th large numbera of Ghetniks and Nstahi troops dressed in American uniforms. Tanjug alleged that incidents in Trieste, which the Fascist and civil police provoked, have been inaccurately characterised in the foreign press as clashes between the Slovenes and Italians. and are connected with the concentraticn of Yugoslav troops and the alleged intention of ' Yugoslavia to attack the Ailies in Trieste. Tanjug said it was learned 011 June 18 that a large column of tanks, guns and trucks was noticed near Trieste and Gorizia. The British Fifty-sixth and Sixth divisions were among tho.se identiiied moving towards the demarcation line. The work of making fortiiications is constantfy going on, and enormous quantities of barbed-wire and other material is arriving.
