Messrs. Townsend and Paul, Ltd., ! fruit and produce mer chants, Wel- j lington, report that during the past week tomatoes have mret with much j better enquiry. Tree tomatoes and : large Chinese gooseberries, passion- 1 fruit and feijoas have also metj with ready sale, whilst any citrusi that have been available have real- j ised ceiling prices. Spring bulbs j have met with very ready sale, whilst violets, chrysanthemums and poppies have sold to a firmer markei. Most varieties of vegetables have also been wanted, cabbages' and swedes, however, being in over ; supply. All varieties of poultry of . good quality have sold readily, butj yardings have been smaller.
