Received Fridav, 11.55 a.m. TOKIO, June 20. Thirty-nine women members oi the Diet conferi'ed With General MacArthur concernirtg food and other problems. They assured ( him: "We Japanese women will never vote for the militarists." The women thanked Genera,l MacArthur for granting them suffrage, and apologetically asked for more food, saying, "We are all hungry in . Japan now." General MacArthur cautioned the women against forming a tvomen's bloc to influence legislation. He urged them to meet the male members of the Diet with equality. General MacArthur praised the Japanese women for responding magnificently to democracy's challenge, and predicted that it would exert a profund influence on Japan's legislative machinery.
