PERSONAL
Mr. D. C. Kidd, M.P., Waitaki, will be the National candidate for the Waimate seat. Mr. Kidd was Ihe only candidate offering for selection. The appointment has been made of Mr. W. O, Hafvey as Chief Private Secretary and Clerk *of the Executive Council, as from April 1. Mr. Harvey was born at Wellington in 1908 and educated at Wellington College and Victoria Univer;sity College where he graduated LL.B. in 1940. He was on the staff of the Public Trust Office from 1925 to 1936 when Un was transferred to the Prime Minister's Department as private' secretary to the late Mr. Savage.
