NEW DEAL FOR WOMEN ADVOCATED

The propoijed new po-licy, which- wasj recommended by the women.'s statusj committee, provides for adequate ante-' i.atal and post-natal clinics and maternity hospitals, a comprehensive system of community centres to inelude nurseries, nursery schools, kindergartens, organised plavgrounds, children 's and adult libraries, family holiday homes and national litness eamps to be avaifable to all, an extension of the emergency housekeeping service, the encouragement of the estahlishment of clubs and hostels for women, and the imlependent housing of women. Eeonomic reforms advocated are equal pay for equal work, no sex discrimination in public service appointments, women to be appointed to all Government boards and conunissions. adequate aceommodation for nurses and the enforcement of the provision of the awards governing nurses.
