Brocken Spectre
The "spectre of the Brocken," -e rare mountain phenomenon, was seen by a party of 12 Alppine Club members at the 5000ft. mark on Mt. Egmont while they were climbing Fantham's Peak on Sundayr The "spectre" takes the foraivof a small circular rainbow wherein an observer can see only himself silhouetted, -even though another observer may be only a yard away. More common in the Swiss Alps than in New Zealand, this phenomenon has been seen before in the vicinity of Fantham's Peak. An old Swiss legend says that it portends disaster for whoever sees it,
