Keveliing in the going, Swift Jay (Bowness) traversed a mile in 1.52 2-5, tiie last seven furlongs taking 1.7 1-5. Blanket (Broughton) was uuder a good liold while placing live furlongs beliind in 1.13 4-5. The Man's Pal gelding vvent a sound race under dilticulties lasi Salurday and may'yet live up to his early promise. itoto Parera (Christensen) sprinted homc the last tliree furlongs of his work in 43 4-5sec., linishing in good style. Kiwi Pai (Andrews) strode out ireely over a inilo, the last seven furlongs oceupying 1.42 3-5. Aftef being off the scehe for over 12 montlis, the Kanui te Pai gelding is to make a reappearance at Hastings, and it will be interesting' to see how he fares after his operation for - respiratory trouble. Dileas (Bryughton) was let off with an easv seven furlongs in 1.45. , A candidate for the Hawke's Bay Steepiechase, Abbey Lu (Stewart) concluded his work by sprinting down tlie straiglit. The Waikato gelding disappointed 011 Saturday and will require to sliow improveiuent. Lady Nahleeu ( Bowrv) was being lield back to Beneve (Pearce) at the end of.five furlongs in 1.13. The t'onuer has lighteued up a good deal and a[>pears to be feeling the effects of reeent racing. Authoress (Saunders') strode over a mile, averaging 15 to the furlong. In .a similar task Gold Money Song (Andrews) recorded 1.59. H1 iioitau (Broughton) impressed more than Oemo ^(Collins) over live furlongs in 1.12 4-5. A meinber . of L. Knapp's team, E1 Koitan is a good stamp of gelding by Niglitlv and is expected to turn out usefu'l.* Newel Post (Christensen) reeled off three furlongs in 43sec. . He D on the up-grade and may soon open his winning accouut. Higli Moraie (llohloff) covered live furlongs in eveu lime. The Bulandshar gelding made a creditable slxowing last Saturday and the outing should prove beneficia!. iied Glare, who was weighted within 111). of Master Meruit iu the Hawke's Bay Steepleehase, will not be making the trip to Hastings. The good performer Arco has been turned out for a spell- and will not be taken in liand again until the spring.
