"on inconies at tlte £1000 a year level, are believed to have been approved by the Pederal Cabinet. It is reported tliat the Cabinet has also agreed that no Budget should be presented in the session of Parliament which opens next Tuesday, and which will be the last session before the Pederal election. The Pederal Prime Minister (Mr. Chifley) will present, instead, a fmancial statement, giving approximate figures on the year's aeeounts. The Cabinet decideil to recomnrcnd to the eaucus that the Pederal General Election should be lield on September 28. The Connnonwealth Eloetoral Aet will be amendod to permit large increases in the allowable expendilure of candldates for the House of Bepresentatives and the Eenate. The allowance for Henate candidates will be incrcased from £250 to £500, and tlie. allowance for House of Bepresentatives candidates from £100 to £250.
