Welfare of Maori Race Official concern for the welfare of the Maori race was reflected iri a statement from a authoritative source that the Government intends to spend £50,000 on a comprehensive development scheme at Auckland's Maori village at Orakei. The proposals were revealed by the Prime Minister in recent discussions with Princess te Puea Herangi and trade unionists. iWany Building Permits During the .month of May the ! Apparently he was oblivious to the light and the horn of the vehicle, for he did not turn and the slowihg railcar struck him j in the back, tossing him into the [ air. It is understood that he was i unknown in the district, and tne circumstances lead to the impression that he was elcierly and pos.sibly deaf.
