WEEK-END GOLF
BUCKLEY CLIJB ACTIYITIES Weather was unsettled over the week-end and golfers were often interrupted in play on Saturday, when a bogey competition was played. The following are the cards which were handed in:— W. Stern 1 down, H. Pope 2 down, R. Harding, F. Picard and H. Stern 3 down, E. Wilson 4 down and R. Birch 5 down. On Sunday the Buckley Club entertained the Oroua Downs Club, when some interesting golf was played. The following are the results, the visiting players being mentioned first: — A. Nicholls beat E. Wilson, B. Pedersen lost to J. Mabey, E. Pedersen lost to C. Stern, M. Doyle lost to F. Picard, J. Connell halved with H. Mabey, N. Connell beat H. Stern, L. Shailer halved with W. Stern, W. Astin lost to H. Pope, G. Albrey halved' with_ V. Pope, B. Astin lost to R. Harding, E Conlan lost to R. Birch, E. W. Pedersen lost to V. Picard, P. Astin lost to T. Boon, H. Karena beat H. Norris, S. Bird lost to R. Collins, J. Bell beat C. Booker. In the fourball match the results were as follows: — Nicholls and Pedersen beat Wilson and Mabey, Pedersen and Doyle lost to C. Stern and F. Picard, J. and N. Connell beat H. Mabey and W. Stern, Shailer and W. Astin beat W. Stern and H. Pope, Albrey and Astin lost to V. Pope and Harding, Conlan and Pedersen lost to Birch and V. Picard, Astin and Karena lost to Boon and Norris, Bird and Bell beat Collins and Booker. "Top Dogs" Match Owing to- the absence of F Picard, V. Picard had to play Tip- ' pler and Roach unsupported in the "top dogs" competition on Sunday -Picard turned on some good gol: i and disposed of the challengers bj 7 up and 6 to play.
