RED CROSS SOCIETY
SHANNON SUB-CENTRE MEETS A meetihg of the Shannon subcentre of the Red Cross was held on Tuesday last, Mrs. J. T. Bovis (vice-pr'esident) presiding. Those oresent were: Mesdames J. Bovis. J. Griffiths, H. Wylie, Hateley and J. Creagh. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames J. D. Campbell and J. A, Easton. It was resolved that the subcentre shouid meet ' once monthly in future and the day decided upon was the second Tuesday in each | month. The "Food for Britain" campaign 1 is still being carried out, and it was decided to make the first collection I jf foodstuffs which have been | dona'ted and jplaced in the boxes in ! he various grocery stores. Fat ,is t Aill urgently required, and the secretary advised that tins of fat could now be left at the railway •station. The treasurer reported that the number of members who had paid cheir annual subscription was very small, and it was agreed that everyI .hing possible shouid be done to j increase the membership of the Red Cross. The secretary was instructed to continue negotiations with regard to the proposed visit of a concert party to Shannon.
