SHANNON W.D.F.U.

Mrs. C. Guerin presided over the monthly meeting of the Shannon branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union. Mrs. E. Barber and Miss Grace Smith were welcomed as new members. Remits to come before the Dominion conference, to be held in Wellington during the first week in July, were discussed. Delegates io this conference from the Shannon branch will be Mesdames C. Guerin and K. Thomson. In conjunction with the conference the 21st birthday of the W.D.F.U. will be celebrated. There will be luncheon at 1 p.m. and a birthday party in the Wellington Town Hall at 7.30 p.m. Tickets for these functions have I been accepted by Mesdames C. Guerin, K. Thomson, J. A. Easton, L. H. Best and C. H. Speirs. The results of the competitions held were as follows: — Scones: Mrs. A. R. Mills 1, Mrs. J. Stevens 2. Presentation box: Mrs. L. H. Best 1, Mrs. A. R. Mills 2. Patchwork apron: Mrs. Mills 1, Mrs. Stevens 2. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Best and Mills.
