DUNEDIN, June 10. Mr. David Forsyth, principal of the i Dunedin North. Jutermediatc School has been selected by the New Zealand Educational Jnstitufe to be the New Zeai land representative to the World Con ference ot' Ihe teaching profession to be I held in Endicott, New Yorlc, from Augj u, st 17 to August 30. The confereuce is being held under the auspices of the National Education Association of the United States of Ameriea and will be | attended by representativcs of all of I the United Natious. The purpose of the confereuce is to i d'.scuss how best the educational profession, in all lands can cooperate in promoting conditious necessary for a lasting peace, to consider the best metliods of bringing about an elfective resloration of educational services in le\astated lauds, and to endeavour to arrive at closer cooperation betweeu educaiional organisations geuerally. During his visit- to the United States Mr. Forsyth has been asked by the Minister of Education, Jlon. H. tt. R. Mason, to spend stnne time studving educational conditious and investigating educational probiems tliere, with a view to reporting on these on his return. The (Jovernmeiit is anxious to resume its ]>olicy of educational development internipted by Ihe war and the Minister has iudicalod that lie would uelcomc news of overseas progress and development. Mr. Forsyth, who will leave for the United States by Pan-Pacilic plaue about the beginning of August, is Avell known in educational circles through- - out New Zealand, having been President uf the New Zealand Educational Inst itute- during *he three critical war years of 1940 to 10-13.
