Lclbour Federation's Plan COASTAL SHIPPING INCLUDED

By Telegraph-

"WELLINGTON, June 14. A plan for tlie State to take over all transport by road, rail, sea and air, was adopted by the annual conference of the New Zealand Federation of Labour today and will be placed before the Government. If this plan is jpnt into operation its most significant » effect will be the acquisitioTL by the State of the whole of the country's eoastal shipping and inter-island passenger services. The conference at the same iiession endorsed the general prin-,, eiple of participation by workdrs in Ihe control of industry and it can be assumed that if- the State ownership poliey is carried out, this principle will be advocated by the Federation throughout the transport system. The whole question was refer red to one of the conference committees under tke chairmanship" of Mr. P. A. ITansen, seeretary of the . New Zealand Transport WorkeiV Federation. Mr. ITansen presented a coFnprohensive report on be half of the committee wliieh thc conference endorsed nnanimously. It is believed that, sinee compil ation, the report was in the hands of tlie seeretary of the Transport AYorkers' Federation. This organisation may also endorse a State ownership poliey at its conference to be held shortly. o
