Still rolling on the drum, the car left the road, and ran into the grass, where it came to rest. The passengers were badly frightened, but unhurt. The car was slightly damaged. Grant Deferrfed Ulitil A request by the Levin Aero Club for a definite declsion as to the grant of £100 anhually asked for by the club was received at a meeting of the Horowhenua Cbunty CoiinCil yesterday. The club stated that until the d'ecision was forthcoming, it could not enter into final affahgements with the occupiers of the properties coneerned in the taking over of the aerodrome. The cotincil dgreed unaftimously that the grant cOUld not be made until the required information as to the terms with the occupiers was supplied by thc cltib. Mount Ruapehu Again Residents in localities around the base of Mt. RUapehu have sefeh little of the Volcano in the past few weeks, but they have noted many signs of activity. Ohakune, eight miles from the mountain in a direct line, has reported having heard several explosions. There has been a strong smell of sulphur and clothing left out of doors overnight has been covered with sulphur dust. On occasions .when Ruapehu has been visibie from vantage points around Wangahfii steam or smoke have been noticeable above the crater and it is now thought that the volcano has been smoking more or less steadiiy through the past two months. There have been few ascents of Ruapehu recently so that there has beeh little observation of any more changes ' within the { crater.
