ME. CAMPBELL. OF WYNDHAM, BE-ELECTED FRESIDENT Mr. 1'. Cauipbell (prosidentj, of Wyndham, was iu the chair at the annual general meeting of the New Zeuland Romuey Marsh Sheep Breeders' Association, which was held in Palmerston North yesterday. There was a very iarge attendance with members from all parts of New Zealand. The balance-sheet indicated that the income for the year was £2494 15s 4d, iiicluding £1453 10s subscriptions and £i06 12s 6d for entry, transfer and export fees. The balance of income over expenditure was shown at £435 8s 7d. Assets including £4060 in Government stock, £1000 deposit, and £1259 casli in bank, were shown at £7099 11s lOd. Followiiig aro extracts from the president's report: — "Flock inspections: Your council desires to remind members that in all cases wliere a sale of ewes is made and a transfer required, the necessary inspectiou must be arranged by the oiiice of Ihe association. "Exports: The following sheep were exported during the year: Victoria 6 rams, 262 ewes; New South Waies, 8, 79; youth Australia, 10, 46; Tasmania, 2, 36; Western Australia, 1, — ; totals, 27 rams, 423 ewes. Forty uuregistered rams were sliipped to youth Australia. "Memberrihip: There is again an iucrease in the number of members, and your council wish them every success, and also reconimends a careful study of the rules, especially those governing inspections, transfers and matter required in the annuai returns. Any information desired by members will be gladly given on application to the oiiice of the association. "Rain fair inspections: yince last year, several more associations and committees holdinjg rain fairs, liave applied for inspections for flock rams, and it is being generaliy recognised that mucli good work is being accompiislied through these inspections. The elimination of iuferior sires must have a beneiicial eilect on the standard of all sheep in the Dominion, and it is hoped that more ram fair committees will avail themselves of the work and advice of our inspectors. JThis association pays the cost of these inspections, which amounted to £48 12s 6d, to the eud of Deceinber, 1945. The. cost will, of course, be greater this year, as more inspections have been carried odt. In the youth lsland eight out of the nine associations holding ram fairs had all rams iiisjjected prior to sale." Officers were elected as under: President, Mr. P. Campbellj hon. treasurer, Mr. R. W. Matthews (Featherston); auditor, Mr. K. S. Glendinning; five members to the council, Messrs J. A. MeLeod (Martinborough), A. S. Murray (Mosgiel), W. M. Stewart (Kiwitea), H. B. Johnston (Cheltenham) and J. A. Edwards (Gore). The special sub-committee and council put eonsiderable work into the revision of tlie rules. A copy of the pr6-

posed new rules was supplied to all members and the proposals were before the meeting for consideration. The members spent eonsiderable time over them but flnally agreed upon rules which were adopted at a special meeting held following the annuai meeting.
