A candidate for the Manawatu Steeplechase, ludian Sun attracted attention at Hastings last Saturday by his forvvard condition, his solid eifort for fit'th in the Kaitoke Handicap suggesting that he :11 be found nicely forvvard at Awapuni at the coniing vv eek-end. A half-brother to the Avondale Cup winner Solarium, ludian Sun hag come through a solid preparatiou for the jumping events at the approaching meetings and there should be a good stake or two for him in the next six weeks. The BulandsJrar gelding was a winner over hurdles at Gisborne last nioutli, since when he has iiad a couple of races ou. the flat, and with 10.2 he appears to be a bright prospect for the Manawatu Steeplechase. Last winter Indian Sun won the Churchill and Wangafiui Steeplecliases, but then went sore, thougli he subsequently finished fifth in the Wellington Steeplechase. R. Marsh
