QUESTION OF U.S. TROOPS FOR PALESTINE
Reeeived Wednesday, 7 p.m. ■ WASIITNGTON, June 11. President Truraan has announeed the appointment of a Cabinet Committee to assist him formulate and implement a poliey on Palestine and related problems. The committee eonsists of Alessrs Bvriies, Patterson and Snyder. Alr. Byrnes announeed that the United States vvas preparing to discuss with Britain what military forces Ameriea might make available to maiatain order in Palestine during the period of increased Jevvish iminigration. Alr. Byrnes refrained from giving any impression that he favoured making any troops available. He explained that the Britisli had raised various questions, therefore the United States would discuss them. Mr. Byrnes said Alr. Harriman vv.as discussing vvith the British Government a plan for a eommittee of British and American experts to study the pliysieal and practieal fac.tors arising from increased J^wish iinmigration to Palestine.
