WANGANUI, June 11. Wanganui residents will soon aequire Ihe habit of going to bed early and some of tliem may get more rest than previouslv. Punctuallv at 10.30 p.m. power is svvitched off cverywhere but in the citv area projier and no electricity is available for an hour. Pieture theatre screenings start earlier and linish at 10 o'clock. Pive ininutes later the last trams leave for tlie Buburbs and the eity settles down for the night. These power restrictions, imposod last night for tho first time, are the most drastie yet introduced by the "Wanga-mii-Rangitikei Power Board in its efforts to conserve electricity so far. They apply to the wliole of the board 's area between Marton and Waverley, Ihe only exceptions being railroad yards where shunting operations are in progress. HASTINGS, .Tune 12. In an effort to assist during the power shortage, many Hastings shops, at the recjuest of the Hawke's Bav Eleetric Power Board, are closing at 5 p.m., with the exeeption of Friday nights. They will open lialf an hour earlier.
