Remarkable Record

A remarkable record was revealed at the annual meeting recently of the Marlborough Licensing Committee, when the license held by Mrs. Mary Jane Green for the North Bank Accommodation House at Kaituna was renewed (reports the Express) . In reply to a question by the chairman of the committee, Mr. T. E. Maunsell, S.M., it was stated that this license had been held by the same family for 67 years, and that in the whole period there had only been one conviction for a breach of the licensing laws. A subsequent search through the available records showed that Mrs. Green he'rself has been the licensee of the establishment at least since 1905. At the age of 93 she still takes an active part in its management.
