NATIONAL PARTY HAS MANY CANDIDATES OFFERING
AQCIvLAND, June 11. Having eornpleted his tour of Otago and Southland, Mr. Holland said this morning that there was no shortage of candidates for the National Party, and in some South Island constituencies as many as eight had offered to stand, many of them ex-servicemen. ' A remarkable feature of the present situation was the intense interest by womenfolk who undoubtedly would play an important parRm^the coming electioii. Three nominations, including that of the1 sitting Member of Parliament, Mr. J. N. Massey, were received for National Party candidate for the Franklyn eleetorate, when nominations clo'sed. The two other nominations received from Mr. Alan J. Milliken, of Patumahoe,' and Mr. S. W. Peers; of Papakura. It is expected a ballot will be held in about three weeks.
