DIPHTHERIA WARNING
AUCKLAND, June 10. "Although the numher of diphtheria cases now oceurring has decreased somewhat, the danger of epidemic conditions being maintained is "by no means past, ' ' said the Medical Officer of Health for Auckland, Dr. L. S. Davis, when urging 1 parents to take advantage of the eampaign to have their children immunised against diphtheria. He said the offer of medical practitioners to carry out this work presented a wonderful opportunity to the people of Auckland and if sufficient advantage were taken of the olfer, it would, it was hoped, free the city from much of the danger of j this terrihle disease. 4 4 The increase in the numher of j diphtheria cases this autumn and the change of character to a more severe type of the disease, has caused considerable anxiety," said Dr. Davis. 4 4 There has been a definite increase in 1 diphtheria in New Zealand in the past j two years and a still further and markj ed increase is being experienced this year."
