The death has occurred of Mr. G. B. Sinel, aged 47, the presideni of the Auckland • Manui actur'efs* s Association and a member of the Economic Stabilisarion Corhmiasion. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Garrett and their infafit son, John, have been Visiting Mrs. Garrett's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Davies, of Prihces Street, and left recently for New Piymuux^ before proceeding hbme to Waitoa. Mr. C. G. Costley-White, assist-ani-secretary in the office of the United Kingdom High Commissioner in New zealand, will be returning to London shortly on cpmpletion of his tour of duty in Nev Zealand.' He will be succeeded by Miss H. B. M. Staple, who is ekpecied to arrive in Wellington about th middle of June. # The Consul-General for the Netherlands (Dr. Jonkheer van Panhuys^#. has announced that Queen Wilhelmina had bestowed upon Sir Fred Bowerbank, DirectorGeneral of Medicai Servlces, the rank of Grand Officer of the Crost of "Oranje-Nassau. There are five divisions of 'the order, and thax conferred on Sir 'Fred is the highest. He is believed to be the first New Zealander to receive the aistinction, which is bestowed upor. both Dutch nationals and foreigners for distinguished seiwiCe to Holland. Sir Fred's award was in recOgnition of his special services ii connection with the hospital ship Oranje.
