BUT WIN FIRST ROUND OF CHAMPIONSHIP
Saturday's games conclutled the first round of the senior rugby championship and produced the biggest surprise so far this season. ' Athletic, previously unbeaten though having one game drawn, had their colours lowered by Rahui, who had not hitherto won a single game. Nevertheless, Athletic just managed to annex the first round honours by one point from each of Foxton and Hui Mai. The second round should be a particularly interesting one. At the conclusion the winners of the first round play the successful team in the second round to ^ecide the championship. / In fii&T northex-n division of the junior championship, Wandcrers liave an impressive lead, while Waimeha are ahead in the southern division. Two rounds are to be played in this competition and at the conclusion an arrangement yet to be decided will be played between the two divisions to determine the district champions.
