WEDDING BELLS
SORENSON— STAPLES . Relatives and friends from the North and South islands attended at St. ' ■ Andrew's Presbyterian Chureh, Levin, recently for the wedding of two descendants of pioneer Settlers. The hride was Epnice Florence, eldest daughter of Mvs. and the late Mr. L. J. Staples, "Hillview," Manakau, and the jridegroom was Gordon Halvor, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Sorenson, Heatherlea, Levin. The service, which was fully choral, was conducted hy Rev. A. Ashwin, of Otaki, with Mr. J . W. Hayfield at the organ, and St. Jolui's- ehoir in attendance. The chureh had been tastefully decorated by friends of ..he. bride, The bride, who was given away I by her brother, Mr. Marsden | Staples, entered the chureh to the strains of Wesley 's introit, "Lead Me Lord." She was wearing a HinipJy-out, fully-trained gown of eream satin and a beautiful honiton laee veil, lenl; by a friend for the occasion, wliich was held in jPlace by a coronet of net and I oranga blossom. Her shower bou- ! quc-t was of white flowers. In | attendance were Miss Dorothy jBrown, of Wanganui, ttie bride's isister, Miss Grace Staples, and jiifctle Suzanne Marsden, of Wellingi tcn. The bridesmaids wore frocks of honey-gold flat crepe and carjried shower bouquets of autumn 1 tinteci flowers, and the flower girl ! a full length frock of lernon gor- ■ gette and carried a floral ball. The ibestmaiL was Mr. Frank Baumber, and the bridegroom's brother, Mr. j Douglas Sorenson, was groomsman. ! Ushers at the chureh were Messrs. j E. II. Barber, L. Staples and J. W. ! IToldstoek. While the register was | being signed Miss M. Black, oi 1 Christchurch, rendered a solo. Al'ter the ceremony a reception was held in St. Mary's Hall, wnerej the. guests v/ere received by Mrs. Staples ancl Mr. M. Staples, assist-j ed by Miss Jean Sorenson and Mr.; Sorenson. Mrs. Staples wore a suitl of Marina blue and black accessor- 1 ies, and Miss Sorenson a tan suit! with accessories to tone. Mrs.j Sorenson, who attended the chureh j service only,. was wearing a frock,' edge to edge'coat and accessories of navy. Mr. J. P. Bertram made a genial toastmaster, and after the eake had been cut proposed thPi health of the bride and bridegroom. ! : This was followecl by a short "ioast ! ! list and the reading of many con- 1 j giatulatory telegram-s. For travelling the. bride wore a ! soft caramel brown suit with tan 1 accessories. j The young couple are making! ! their home in Ijevin, where thei i bridegroom is practising as an i 1 accountant.
