Maxwell, N.Z.S.C., ^ who is now in Japan wi'th the 2nd N.Z.E.F.. as second in command, is to relieve Colonel L. W. Thornton,; O.B.E., R.N.Z.A., officer commanding the Tokio sub-area of the British Commonweaitn Occupanon Force and , senior New Zealand liaison officer. Brigadier L. Fouter, D.S.O., N.Z.C.S., at present commanding the Central Military District, will shortly be leaving for Janan to- relieve Brigadier K. L. Stewart, C.B.E., D.S.O., N.Z.S.C., who commands the 2nd N.Z.E.F. in Japan. Brigadier Stewart will shortly be returning to. New Zealand to take up a senior staff j appolntment.
