Mr. N: D. Tilley, who .has been : visiting Rotorua for the past three j weeks, has now returned to Levin. J Rev. C. D. Caswell, vicar of Hoki- j vika, will succeed Rev. J. Calder, lor 26 years director of the Auckland | City Mission. Mr. Caswell was the'i first New Zealand trained officer of j che Church Army, and was oiuain- ; cd priest by the Bishop of Chrlst- j murch in 1941. He served a yearj as chaplain to the Forces and also i worked in two Christehureh parisn- j es before being appointed to Hokitika last year. When he takes up-j nis new duties he will also become! :'.icar of St. Thomas's Church,8 Freeman's Bay. j Colonel D. T. Maxwell, N.Z.S.C., ^ who is now in Japan wi'th the 2nd N.Z.E.F.. as second in command, is to relieve Colonel L. W. Thornton,; O.B.E., R.N.Z.A., officer commanding the Tokio sub-area of the British Commonweaitn Occupanon Force and , senior New Zealand liaison officer. Brigadier L. Fouter, D.S.O., N.Z.C.S., at present commanding the Central Military District, will shortly be leaving for Janan to- relieve Brigadier K. L. Stewart, C.B.E., D.S.O., N.Z.S.C., who commands the 2nd N.Z.E.F. in Japan. Brigadier Stewart will shortly be returning to. New Zealand to take up a senior staff j appolntment.
