Received Tuesdav, 7 p.m. OTTAWA, June 3. The Conunons read a first time a Bili to establish an Atomic Energy Uontrol Board. The Minister of Reconstruction, Mr. U. D. Howe, introducing the Bill, tohi the House that Uanada did not intend to devolop atomic. power for the mamifacture of weapons and expressed the opinion that atomic energy would certainly show practical jieacetime applications in hve years. First use would probably be the direct transference of heat. Once that was worked out, other uses would follow logically because the modern world was well advauced in using heat under complete control and transferring it in exact foruis. The Government intended to keep the strietest control of the raw materiat used for atomic fission. Uanada and United States were the only countries which had plants producing the (inal product from which the energy came. Working processes and linished products woukl also be strictly controlled. The eontemplated biulget for atomic energy at present was 3,500,009 dollars yearly. There were 110 likelv prospects of new uranium deposits being discovered in Uanada beyond those at jjresent mined in northwest territories.
