DRAWN THIRD GRADE CLASH

Shannon met a rnuch heavier team when they played Athletic in the third grade rugby match on the Shannon Domain on Saturday afternoon. Athletic pressed hard from the opening whistle and within a few minutes were on the home side's line, Shannon forcing. Half-time sounded without score. - Shannon were on the attack at the opening of the second half, and following a number of scrums and line-outs down the field, G. Hood took possession and went over in the corner to gain first points in the game. Jcffrey failed to convert. Following a scrum, Hood again took over and when things looked dangerous for the visitors, he was forced into touch just beyond their twenty-five yard flag. Athletic returned to the attack, and following a scrum were awarded a free kick, Rankin having 110 trouble in placing the ball over the crossbar to even the score. Play moved up and down the field with both sides. fighting hard to gain the vital points necessary to win the match, but time was called without a change in the score.
