Personal Miss R. Hook has left to spend an extensive holiday in the Auckland district. She will be the guest of Mrs. V. A. Wright, of Otahuhu, for a few days. Euchre Winjiers Last week's winners of the Labour Party's euchre tournament were Mrs. Ropoama and Mr. Andrew. Flag 500 Winners Winners at the flag 500 heid by the women's section of the R.S.A. last Monday evening were Messrs. R. Sands, R. Harding and R. Tiller and Mrs. R. Roberts. Badminton Competition Competition badminton played in the Druids' Hall on Thursday evening resulted: Miss G. Forbes defeated Miss M. Fuller 15—5, L. Burling defeated S. E. Hyde 15 — 2, N. Retter defeated D. Richards 15 — 5, G. Clough defeated T. Downes 15 — 9. Farewell Afternoon The Shannon Women's Institute entertained Mrs. C. Aisiabie at a social afternoon in Laurvig's Hall on Thursday afternoon. Cards were enjoyed by a large gathering of memoers, the wmner being Mrs. Sinclair. A guessing competition v/as won by Mrs. A. Thomson, m the absence pf Mrs. J. A. Easton (the presidenti Mrs. E. Thorne presented Mrs. Aisiabie with a small gift as a token of esteem from the Women's Institute. .Mrs. A. Thomson's little daughter presented the guest of honour with a posy. Billiard Tournament On Tuesday evening Messrs. R. 3ibby, R. Mills and W. H. Behrens ,ourneyed to Mangaore to compete in a friendly billiard and mooker match with a Mangaore :eam. Shannon were successful in .vinning the billiards, but Mangaore out-pointed the visitors in tne snooker games. During the evening Mr. E. Beech took the opportunity of bidding farewell to Mr. W. H. Behrens. Mr. Beech expressed regret at losing Mr. Behrens from iheir friendly competitions, and said that it was doubtful if the Shannon team could replace sucn a good billiard player as Mr. Behrens. Mr. Behrens suitably replied and said how much he had enjoyed the little evenings at Mangaore.
