The cleaths of three' infants in the Auckland- distriet are now attributed to tetanus carried in t-alcimi powder. * It is pointed ont that the risks attached to possibly infected talciim powder, are not limited to infants. Tetanns is absoi'bed through a break in the - skin. Maternity hospitals and midwives have been recommended to use a sterilised mixtnre of zinc and xrowdered starch for liewly-born infants ' instead of talcum. For yonng children in the home it is considered better to dispense with the use of powder in the meantime.
