AUCKLAND, -May 31. A snoak tliief has been operating in city jHfture theatres during the past fortnight. He has been making a practice of attending day sessions when the theatres are not filled and stealing pnrsos and liandbags put bv women patrons on vacant seats while they are engrossed "in tlie filins. Five women in four difl'erent theatres liave had prop erty stolen. On Wednesday afternoon, a mother and her daughter placed theii handbags on an empty Seat beside them and when they were leaving-the theatre, they found them on tlie Iloor. A sum ot £3 10s had been extracted from oue and 18s from tlie other. A visitor from Ilawke's Bav lost: a purse and its contents of a total valne of £(5 in -a similar manner some days earlier. /
