Received Saturday, 9.40 a.m: LONDON, May 31. There is a very serious increase ih crime, including rape. robbery and murder, in and around Bergen and Belsen Gamps in the last three weeks, said Sir John Hynd, in the Hoiise of Commons in a statement 011 the dist-urbance between displaced persons at Belsen and troops of the mili-tary command. After consultation with the poliee it had been decided that it was essential ' to deny ingress and egress' to and from the camp while investigations were carried out. A proelamation m Polish, German and English had been posted. British infantry and not Polish soldiers had been used to cordon ofT the camp. The troops exercised ; great restraint and there v^as no ! shooting, but the poliee used a low J •pressure fire hose against the de- j monstrating inmates until ordered j to cease.
