H. P. Lawry, S.M., Singh souglit ! to obtain possession of the camera from ! Biegmund Zucker, secondhand dealer, | of Christchurch. An application was j made bv Detective L. D. Harrowlield for the Magistrate to determine thc ownershii) of the camera.

.Singh said that he joined the Royal ; New Zealand Air Force in 1941 and ' purchased the camera before he left for | overseas. He had also purchased a rangefincler for the camera and had drilled holes to attach a clip for the 1 rangelinder. While stationed at BrigliI ton, England, the camera • was stolen. ! One evening last February when he 1 was on leave in Christchurch he saw a i camera in a secondhand dealer's shop iu Manchester Street and he identih'ed it as his own bv the clip which he had ! attached. Ile went to Wellington that 1 night and got in touch with the police j there. He had since seen the camera ; and had further ideutified it bv a de- ■ t'ect 011 the tiiue exposure sliutter. , Kiegmund Zucker, secondhand dealer, : Christchurch, said that he had thoroughlv examined the camera befoi'e he bought it and the sliutter was not defective then. He said that many cameras of this type had attaeliments for rangefinders. The Magistrate said the work done 011 the rangelinder was not shop finishod. Ile ovdered that possession of the camera be given Singh.
