REUNITED AFTER FIVE YEARS
CHRISTCHURCH, May 28. Mrs. Trene Armstrong, whose home is I in Carlton, Koutheast London, saw her , husbaud. Lieutenant S. F. Armstrong, • Royal Artillery, for the iirst time in five years at 5 o 'clock this aftcrnoo'n. 1 She arrived in Wellington in the Rangii tata this morning and was flown in a R.N.Z.A.P. Dakota from Paraparaumu to Wigram from wliere she was convcyed by motor to the sahatorium. Her husband was captured at Singapore by ihe .Tapanese and was a prison- • er 011 Formosa until he was brought to New Zealand in the Maunganui after 1 V-.T Day, lieeause he was too ill to be repatriated to England. The War Offic-e arranged Mrs. Armstrong 's trip. She said tonight that her husband was -looking exeeedinglv well and was on the road to reeoverv. She .had no indieation when he was likely to be discharged from hospital, but she would be staving in New Zealand until then. At the moment she had no other plans. While in Christcliurch, Mrs. Arm- j strong will stay with Mr. and Mrs. W. Keenlyside, St. Andrew's Ilill. Mr. Keenlvside is a member of the staflP of Lever Bros., of whose staff in England, T.ieutenant Armstrong was u member before tlie war.
