WELLINGTON, Nay 28. Eollowing are the results of the coupon savings for the past week in tlie tvventy postal districts, these districts being given in order of merit accordmg to the basis of population.
The drop in ligures this week is the first setback ihe campaign has had. The chairman of the National Famine Emergency Committee stated that the sudden onset of winter, the approach of tne end of the month aud emphasis on other phases of the campaign sucli as the collection of fats, were factors alfecting the week. liowever, he repeatcd the appeal, vvhich was as urgent as evei. Above all he wished to emphasise a point that did not seem to be realiseu uy everyone — coupons saved can ue posted to tlie nearest post oliice free oi postage. Masterton, second last weeic, just beat Gisborne for the district pennant. This was the tliird tinie in four weeks that Gisborne had been similarly beateu by a smail margin for highest lioiiours. This week's savings take the tally to just over a million and a half coupons in seven weeks. The saving oi ■ meat totals- approximately 250 tons.
