BOOM IN BABIES
Received Tuesday, 7.20 p.m. SYDNEY, May 28. Last year 61,662 babies were "born ht New South Wales, an increase of over 2000 on the figures for 1944. The gtaph cnrve has maintained a consistent rise since 1939 when the yearly total was 48,003. It is expected that 19ifi will again hreak the record as 311 maternity wards are full and beds m'tPheing booked as far ahead as ^anuary. Infant mortality decreased through°nt the war years froin 1969 in 1939 to 1889 last year.
