T'he New Zealand contingent to the Victory Parade was I welcomed by the New Zeahand Minister of Finance, Hon. j Walter N.ash, asid the New Zealand Military Liaison Ofricer, I Brigadier R. .S.. Park, at Tilbury, a.nd by the New Zealand i High Oommissioner, Mr. W. J. Jordan, the New Zealand Naval i Affairs Ofiicer, Mr. S. R. Skinner, and Mr. F. R. Picot, at St. j Pa-ncras Station, London. In dull but fine weather tlie troops entered camp at Ken- ! sington Gardens in excellent spirits. They -had an uneventful j five weeks' voyag'e in the Maunganui, but were hove to for some ! hours in the Caribbean Sea when a successful operation for peritonitis was performed on Major W. Porter, of the Maori Battalion, who is now making a good reeovery in a London ; hospital. The ship called at Tahiti, Balboa, Panama and Colon. The weather was fine throughout and an entertainment committee provided a programme of dances, picture shows and race meetings.
