PERSONAL

Mr. H. B. Burdekin is the Levin Returned Services' Association's delegate to the annual Dominion conference of the N.Z.R.S.A., which opened in Wellington to-day. Associated with him are Messrs. W. Meddings and J. P. Bertram. Reference to the passing of Mr. R J. Foss was made by the chair - man (Mr. A. C. Kennerley) at a meeting of the Levin School Committee last evening. He said the deceased gentleman had been headmaster of the school for 15 years, and had made a flne conjtribution to the cause of education (in this district. The meeting stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Mr. Foss.
