111 1 . THE O. AND G. CAMPAIGN I Coming' to Levin pleading in i deadly earnest a, gteat and I humanitarian cause is the O. and I G. campaign. It pleads that the mothers in New Zeaiand should haVe fair play, that motherhood [ should be made safer and possible ! whete it is now impossible and ; that the medical service respon'sible for bringing children into j this little eountry of New Zealahd 1 should be lifted on to a much i higher plane. ; This in brief is the purpose of the | O. and G. campaign, which will be ! cohducted in Levin from May 30 to ! June 8. New Zealand has provided : useful and imposing establishments 1 for the study of the health ahd fer- | tility of animals, but' not one single : bUildihg of any kind for the the study of the health and fer.tility of womankind. The objective of the campaigh is to fill this longfelt want by endowing a professorial chair in the post-graduate ' school of obstetrics and gnaecology, | to be attached to the Auckland Hos- ' oital for Women, and to' appoint j thereto a professor of outstanding | ability to direct ' lectiires and rersearch in these subjects. TheTe op- | nortunity will be provided foT all ; doctors to ref resh and extend their knowledge. In Levin the appeal has been enthusiastically taken up by a cpmmittee of members from the various ■ women's organisations of the tow.h, who support it along with leading .members of the medical fraternity of the country and a widely repreisentative group of business and ' professional men.
