A high Egyptian source told the Assoeiated Press Cairo correspondent tliat Britain had proposed a series of j military clauses in the new AngloEgyptian Treaty "too onerous for the j Egyptian delegation to accept," and also that Britain had asked for gunrantees which "in some respects would be worse tlian occupation. ■ ' The Anglo1 Egyptian Treaty talks I have nearly stopped, said oue of the Egyptian delegates, Makrani Ebade Lhisha, leader of the Wafdist hloe, the Assoeiated Press Cairo correspondent reports. Makrani said: "We cannot accept incomplete independence. ' ' Ilis statement was nuule after a threehour meeting from which a coninumique was issued saving that the talks were lialted to enable the British delegation to consnlt AI r. Bevin on a iiumber of points and that this would involve "a short delay. " The correspondent adds that the date for the evacuation of British troops is believed to be tlie point at issue.
