WELLINGTON, May 23. An incvease from 148 to 359 in the ininiber of pilots' lieenees enrrent, is shown in the eivil aviation statistics for the qnarter ended March 31, compared with the prfevious qnarter. Ground engineer liccnees fell from 99 to 95. The total number of hours flown during the three mouths was 2912, an inerease of i 552 011 the previous period. There was ' a slight rise in the .total number of passengers earried, the iigure for the 1 qnarter ended March 31 being 16,796 cempared with 16,442 in the previous three mouths. Wellington again retained its position as the busiest airport in the Dojminion with 5590 passengers arriving land 5610 departing. Nelson was second , with 1821 arrivals and .1762 departures. » Figures for other aerodromes were: ; Blenheim 1783 and 1787, Auckland 1514 land 1517, Christchurch 1441 and 1425, 1 Dunedin 1363 and ,1310. j On the New Zealand- Australia ser- ! vice the total miles flown fell from ; 150,724 during the . quartcr ended Dej cember 31 to 116,580 last quarter.
