NEW W.I. FORMED
— An interesting event took place at Waitarere recently when women residents of Waitarere met to form a branch of the Women's Institute. Mrs. H. S. Powell, president of the Southern Wellington Federation, welcomed those present. Mrs. Hume, Dominion voluntary organiser, of Porirua, and Mrs. Eggers, federation voluntary organiser, of Paraparaumu, spoke of the aims and objects of the Women's Institute movement, and of their duties as office-bearers and as members. After those present had decided to form an institute, the following committee was appointed: — President: Mrs. T. Fletcher; secretary: Mrs. W. J. Swan: trea&urer : Mrs. Edwards; committee: » Mesdames Aldridge, Fraser, Turton and Waugh. The meetings will be held the second Wednesday in each month. After a cup of tea and time for members to talk to visiting offlcers, the meeting closed with "the singing of the National Anthem.
