YOUNG POLISH GANGSTER ON TRIAL

German armed policc and British military police guafded the courthouse at Detinold to pr.ev.ent any attempt to rescue Theofil Walesek, the 22-year-old leader of a Polisli terrorist gang, who is charged with murdering a Eritish military policeman. Walesek, in the dock,' was hij,ndcuffed to two military policemen. He is suspected of b.eing concemed in 37 murders, and admits more assaults on wongen than he can remember. The prosecution stated that Walesek, after being arrested in a disguise, was subjeet to a "regrettably pcrfunctory search." Later he produced a .pistol from his overcoat pocket and sliot his way out, killing a British military policeman and wounding two other s. Guards chased and cauglit Walesek, who was found t.o be in possession of a German pistol and 64 l'ounds of: ammunition.*' A military tribunal sentenced Walesek to death.
