CO-OPERATIVE BUILDING
A mcetiug- of sliareholders of the Manawatu Cooperative Building Socioty was lield last night, presided over by Mr. G. B. Cope. The chairman remarked that he was pleased to he*ir that Mr. .J. J. O'Shea (dircctor) ivas about again after a painful ilincss. Ffee of intcrest loans to sliareholders now total £330,000 and profits credited to shareholders total £20,000. This had been acconiplished since the society st.artcd operations in 1923. Appropriations amount ing to £2700 were decided and resulted as follow: No. 6 group (ballot), Mrs. 1). M. Whiteman, Palmerston North, £700; No. 7 group (ballot), W. Caldwill, Greymouth, £500; No. 7 group ((sale), £500 at £lb 5s per £100; No. 9 group (ballot), W. Glassey (Pahiatua), £500, and W. Goddard (Palmerston North), £500. At a meeting of tliO board of directors which followed, a loan iu No. 7. group for £500 was iiuhlly approved, A loan of £1000 in.No. 9 group vyas also : approved. In No. 10 group loans for | £800 aud £100 wero linaUy. approved ! 8hares applicd for in No. 11 group I since last meeting were 2^5. . This ; group should comuience operations shortly.
