Britain, America and France have won a share in hundreds of millions of dollars worth of dennan assets in Switzerland- The State Department annoimced that a general ag.reement had been reached nnder which Switzerland would act as. follows: — ( Firstly, tuni over 58,140,000 dollars of the estimated 1-30 millions in gold looted t'rom other countries and sold or deposited by the Nazis in Switzerland. * Seeondly, share with the three Western Powers and other Allies on a 50-50 . basis, the proeocds to be realised i'rom the liquidation of dennan properties whose value is estimated as high as 700,000,000' dollars. The department added that the accord, while not yet finalised, providcd a satisfactory method of preventing the use of dennan assets for finaneing a new war. Ofricials said that the 58,140,000 dollars would be divided among France, Belgiiun, dzechoslovakia and other nations from which the Nazis looted gold. Britain and America had agreed not to claim any gold. Botli, however, nnder the Paris Reparations ] Agreeincnt of January 15, were entitled to 28 per eent. of whatever j monev was realised by the Allies in liquidatiug Nazi properties in | Switzerland. France would get 16 per eent. Yugoslavia was next with 0.6 per eent. Russia, under the tenns of the Paris Paet 1 to which she agreed, would not share. in Nazi assets in Switzerland.
