Buttcr coupons totalled 13,317 compared with 11,577 for . tlie previo.ua wcek. Aleat coupons totalled . 240,082 compared with {123,342 the week before. Oamaru headed the list and won the Pennant with a big increase in surrendered coupons for a small population. It was in ninth plaee- thc week before. Alasterton maintained an impr.ovemeut to obtain seeond plaee. Christchurch, with nearly a quartcr" of the totai coupons surrendered for New Zealand/ had a reeord for a eity. Wellington ihiproved slightly, but the Famine Emer geney Committee statcd this evcning tliat Auckland and Wellington were outstanding failures in their realisatioii of the need for saving of food , and lts urgcncy. While the committee was gratihed with the steady increase in surrendered coupons, it uiade an urgent apjreal to districts that had yet to develop their local organi^ation. Leading districts in the past week's campaign had outstanding results. Some idea of the percentages was indicated by the fact that Auckland and. ' Wellington ; would have to multiply their saerillee eight times to be near the leaders.
