CGHNCILLORS ASK QUESTIONS The loss of a borough truck ih .he fire which de-stroyed a garage jii May 4 at the residence of its .vater works overseer (Mr. G. R. Burdekin) eplied that past .council policy was c have no insurance on vehicles, ;ut since the fire all vehicles had een covered by a eomprehensive poliey.- In regard to -the particular vehicle destroyed, His Worship said' ipplication had been made to -the \uditor- General to release money j from the couiicil's former accident j fund to pay for the new truck. ! This fund was 110 longer used for j ihe purpose for which it had been [ established, accident cover now i being provided by outside insur- ; ance. | Cr. C. Sherwood enquired wny the truck was garaged on private property. \ The Mayor. pointed out that it was necessary because immediately a fire alarm was sounded the waterworks overseer had to proceed 1 1 the waterworks and re-arrange certain controls. -Cr. A. -O. Powell, chairman -pf the waterworks committee, added that as soon as there was rain in the hills the waterwoiks overseer was required to go to the headworks co alter the controls, other wise the town water supply would soon be very dirty.
