MONTHLY MEETING Tlie monthly ; meeting '"of the Shannon Returned Services Association was held in Laurvig's Hall on Saturday .evening, Mr. J., Ritchie (vice.^presidentJ presiding over a •small attendance; • of members. Those present w'ere Messrs. R. Hook, J.. Sinclair, E. P. GunningyJ. Griffiths, C. Guerin, E. Ch'ester Snr„ S. Spencer, O. Tippler, R. Lange, C. : Johnson, I. Falkner, J. Jones, E. Morris, C. Aislabie and R. Higgott. -Apologies were received from Messrs. H. C. Young, C. Young, S. W. Barber and V. J. Bateman. It was noted that the women's section was organising a children's party to be held on June 1, and it was proposed that a send-off to Mr. and Mrs. Aislabie and family be held on the same night. A committee was set up to make arrangements with the women's section in this direction. It was proposed by Mr. C. Guerin that the fol'lowing new members be accepted, Messrs. M. Cowley, W. F. Jamieson, Jnr., G. Third, H. Ellison, A. S. Easton, J. Jones, C. Mapson, R. Roigard, H. Rpbinson and W. Jennings. The following transfers were weleomed as members of the Shannon R.S.A,, Messrs. J. Barclay, H. Beatson, R.. Turner, J. Stevens and Constable B. Watson. Miss Jean Easton was transferred out. It was agreed that a donation of £3 3s be made to the. : Levin Pipe Band. Mr. E. Gunning advised that the result of the' Poppy Day saies was £26 18s 8d, with no retuftns yet received from the Tokomaru subbranch. The membership roll of the Shannon branch now stands at 181 members while Tokomaru have 41, making a total of 222 members for the branch. It was agreed that in future general meetings would be held on the second Saturday in each month and the secretary was authorised to have cards printed to advise members of the future dates. The following two members were elected to the executive committee:* Messrs. C. Guerin ahd R. Hook.
