REVEW OF RUNNING FOUR MAIN OTAKI EVENTS The following. review is given of the horses which ran in the four rii'ain events at the Otaki Maori Racing Club's winter meeting on SEtturclay : — . Puketoi Steeples, Zi miles Moderate (C. Bowry), 10.12, was third a half mile from home, and taking every jump in his stride and out-jumping his opponents at every hiircUe led into the straight the last time and from there on was never neaded. Penwilt (Powell) 9.0, was second nearly all the way, jumped a bit "short, but showed pace in .the straight though he never thr,eatened the winner. Nanook (Beale) 9.6, was always one of the first three and showed improvement on each jump. Pompit (Shaw) 10.10, was aiways trailing the leaders and though never going like a winner, made up ground in the run home. Ring Scarf (Sagar) 9.0, was an early leader, but drit'ted after the first mile and a quarter to finish about fit'th. Lady Charm (Ivil) 9.0, was well up early, but faded out, and was never near the leaders; she finished well baek. War Credit (Rouse) 9.0, was always at the rear of the field, jumped very poorly, biit showed improvement over the last half mile; finished eighth. Authoress (Fagan) 9.0, spoilt her chances when forced to make a| Dody jump at the stand double, and ; from there on never troubled the leaders. Tiroroa (Cavaney) 9.0, was aiways at.the rear of the field, pimped ciean biit showed no pace, a" poor effort and last to finish. Goid Claim • (Baker) 9.2, tipped a nurdle and lost his jockey with a mile and a half to go; was sixth when he fell, but never jumped • ; cleen. High Order (Pearce) 7.0, aiways in rront, was just beaten in a good tussle down the straight. Alcyone (Ford) 7.0, ran a good race and might have been more dangerous had she been better placed on the turn. Lord Darnley (Bowness) 7.9, came home well after being close up all the way. Fortune's Smile (S. Waddel) 9.3, was fifth into straight and ran on gamely under his heavy burden; always well plaqed. Theiolyn (Messervy) 8.0, was always in front, but .faded at the turn; not suited to the track or "distance. Lady Naiileen (Eaton) 7.0, was never near leaders, ran. disappointingly ana finished well back*. ■ Duplicity (A. Johnson) 7.0, showed .great turn of speed in sharing the pace till halfway down the straight; track was too • heavy for her. Gay Lena (Broughton) 8.1>:-.was always near the leaders, third into the straight, did not- run on and was well back at the finish. Prince Wheriko (Mullins) 7.3, was always at the rear and found pace a bit hot for him. Young Margaret (Ireland) 7.10, was never going well/ "could not handle the going and finished well back. Piccolo (Farland) 8.2, was prominent for about three fu'rlongs and then dropped back to finish among the last three. Lady Don (Corza) 7.5, was last away but inrproved slightly although she was never in a dangerous position;- the ground did not suit her. Rakanui (Bowery.) 9.4, was prominent early, but was nutclassed over the- last three furlongs; finished a bad last. Rahui Hack, H miles Master Day (Connor) 8.13, was one of the first four all the way; outclassed the field in an easy win. Blanket (Bowness) 9.0, was at the rear of the field , early and moved up about three fUriongs from home to be one of the first into the straight; had no show against the winner. Sailor Boy (Broughton) 8.8, tried to lead the last mile, but weakened in the run home. Sergeant Jack (Farland) 8.8, was second to last for a mile, but improved from here on to finish fast for a fourth. Incline (W. Johnson) was never in the place getters; finished in the bunch. Broderie (Tattersall) 8.0, had every chance but ran into troubie in the turn. Gold. Claim (Ford) 8.0, was prominent early, drifted along the back but came up again in the straight. Stepfar (Lamb) 8.2, was always prominent and had every chance, but weakened in the straight. Cock Robin (Irelandl. 8.0, was always in

the rear of the field and never dangerous at any time. Norse 8.3, was last early, but made up ground along the back and finished well. Robeology (Mullins) 8.13, was tne early leader, but drifted to finish a poor last; found the weight too much.
