j Received Saturday, 10:30 a,m. BERLIN, May 17. The Allied; Contrpl Council . has 1 published ' new laws drastically iri- : creasing' taxes on tohacco, beer and alcohol. This is the second- step in the overhauling of the. . German taxation structure, which began last Pebruary with the aim of reducing the inflation po.tential. The tax on spirits has been increased 3000 per cent., beer 125 per cent. and tobacco 200 per cent.
